
A decadent and simple show stoppers! Baked Berry French Toast, drizzled with warm lemon compote. Serves 4.
Recipe Ingredients: for French Toast
3 eggs
1 cup cream or milk
1 tbsp maple syrup
¼ tsp poppy seeds
6 slices french bread, cut into ½" cubes
½ cup fresh berries (rasp.black, blue)
4 tbsp cream cheese (1 per ramekin)
Recipe Ingredients: Lemon Compote
1 egg
¾ cup sugar
4 tbsp lemon juice
zest 1 large lemon
1 tbsp butter
Whisk together first 4 ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring constantly. After sauce begins to thicken, stir in butter just to combine. Serve warm over french toast
Recipe Method
The night before:
- Grease/Pam four 8 ounce ramekins (4" round)
- Line bottom of half of ramekins with bread crumb mixture
- Cover with 1 tbsp creamcheese each
- Cover with berries and remaining breadcrumbs
- Let sit overnight in refrigerator
In the morning:
- Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes or until puffy and golden
- Remove french toast from ramekins by taking a spatula and going around the outer edge of the cup and then slightly lifting the bottom so that it easily comes out of cup with turned upside down
- Turn out onto a place, dust with icing sugar
- Top with a sliced strawberry fanned and then drizzle with lemon compote
